2nd Kings 2:2

Elisha said to Elijah, “As the LORD lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.”

I Will Not Leave You

The loyalty of Elisha is palpable in these words. He promises to walk with Elijah to the end of his story, no matter how far it takes them. Elijah has showed him what it means to follow God, to be a prophet, to be the one through whom God parts the seas and saves the people. Elisha doesn’t want to miss a moment.

In our lives, there are people who have shown us how to live our lives with faith and with compassion. There are people who’ve shown us what it means to seek justice and be steadfast in walking courageously through the life we’ve been given. There are people who’ve helped us discover our gifts and consider how we can share them with the world.

Today, let’s give thanks for the people on our paths who have pointed us toward the life we are meant to live.

Prayer: Dear God, I am so thankful for the people who have shown me how to walk through life, and follow your love into the world. Amen

Reflection Questions:

  1. Who are you thinking of right now?
  2. How can you express your gratitude for the mentors on your path?
  3. Are there ways you can help other people experience God’s light in their lives?
