Psalm 105:4

4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually.

On the Move

This week I feel very aware of the challenges that happen when we make space for movement in our lives. For example, our Appalachian Service Project team is moving for the first time since the pandemic, first on a trip to West Virginia, and now moving day by day into the mission they have chosen, meeting people, trying to be present, to be instruments of service, and peace, and compassion in the lives of strangers.

I see pictures online of people making moves this summer, in their travel with family, in times of challenge personally or professionally. In all these ways, people are trying to find a way forward. For all of us, whatever our journey, this Psalm is for us. We are invited to seek the Lord, to seek the Lord’s strength, to seek the Lord’s presence. We aren’t required to know it all, do it all, be perfect in our movements. We do not have to be alone. We can choose to seek the Lord and let the Lord’s strength and the Lord’s loving presence walk with us and be with us on the journey.

Prayer: Thank You God, for the gift of this scripture in our lives today. In Jesus Name, Amen

Reflection Questions:

  1. What movements are happening in your life today?
  2. What would it feel like for you to seek the Lord?
  3. Imagine yourself relying on God’s strength instead of just your own. What does that feel like?
